Everything is a Remix
Well, it's Saturday and its time for the phat beats to start flowing! Before I get stuck in though I though I'd share thes videos about remixing that I found really interesting.
It's the first 3 parts of a series of videos about creativity and taps into that universal truth that everything is inspired by something else and how taking seemingly unrelated things and blending them into something new is often where that first spark of creativity starts.
The first video is about about music... Kirkby then goes on to take that train of thought and apply it to other forms of creativity in film, book writing, and business.
I love this quote from part 3..
"The act of creation is surrounded by a fog of myths. Myths that creativity comes via inspiration, that original creations break the mold, that they're the products of genius' and appear as quickly as electricity can heat a filament, but creativity isn't magic. It happens by applying ordinary tools of thought to existing materials and the soil from which we grow our creations is something we scorn and misunderstand even though it gives us so much... and that's copying. Put simply copying is how we learn. We can't introduce anything new until we're fluent in the language of our domain and we do that through emulation" Kirkby Ferguson

Anyways.. It's time for me to started emulating and remixing the sounds and feelings in my head into a new creation. While I'm doing that let me know what you think of the videos.
